Ballart Chef Opens Hindustani Heart to Homeless

Generosity is a warm ingredient for success. Chef Peter Gaur has opened the doors to Royal Indians Restaurant at Sturt Street in Ballart, Australia, to the homeless and unemployed people in the city. Gaur who owns seven restaurants across Victoria, remembers struggling to afford meals in Australia, 20 years ago, after leaving his family and a job behind in India. Friends made in Australia helped. Today, the chef thinks he is lucky to be reaching out to the most vulnerable people in the city. His initiative was praised by Mayor Des Hudson who hopes the community embraces the Indian cuisine and supports the business. What will the kind chef get in return? Smiles as warm as the nutritious food he hands out to people who walk in after 9 p.m.
