The Trendformer Of Tradition

Well-known Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre has introduced oodles of freshness in the Indian bridal wear. Known for her prêt and couture creations, Dongre has re-invented the traditional lenhga, sari and choli in contemporary silhouettes. In July, she showcased her creations on the couture ramp for the first time at the FDCI India Couture Week.

The Mumbai designer will launch a flagship store near the Qutub Minar in New Delhi this year and feels that the Indian designers are waking up to prêt.

Dongre’s brand and creations caught the attention of fashion lovers across the world when Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton wore the long and breezy dress with Mughal motifs during her trip to India, earlier this year. As a result, the response to the designer’s 2016 summer collection ‘Love Notes’ soared.
