Iceland Sings A Dreamy Song Of Indian Romance

Iceland is beginning to script a new romantic story with India. Thorir Ibsen, ambassador of Iceland to India, recently hosted a special evening for three women entrepreneurs (a fashion designer and two engineers) from Iceland who were here to understand India, explore opportunities and meet people.

Indian textiles and fabrics have impressed Fashion designer Helga Bjorg Steinporsdottir. She considers Indian women beautiful, warm and very dignified and is excited at the prospects of designing clothes for them and feels that India is an inspiration to designers like her.

Ibsen said that the Bollywood film Dilwale, and its song ‘Gerua’, had increased interest in Iceland. He remarked that requests being made to the Embassy by Indians about tourism in Iceland have gone up.

According to Ibsen, Iceland is now planning to promote itself as a place for Indian filmmakers to shoot Indian films. He confirmed that Hollywood producers shoot in Iceland, that Indian filmmakers are interested in the country, and that his side had received a good response from Bollywood producers after a programme in Mumbai.
